Near-miss in Toronto

The Canadian press reports that the crew of a Bombardier Dash 8-400 from Porter Airlines conducted an avoidance maneuver to avoid colliding with a drone. Two cabin crew members were injured and taken to the hospital. According to Brad Cicero, spokesperson for Porter Airlines, "the Dash 8-400 was coming from Ottawa, near Billy Bishop airport on Monday, November 14th. Above Lake Ontario, at 9000 feet, or about 2750 meters, around 7:30 am, the pilots saw a remote object. As they approached, they realized that he was very close to their trajectory. That's why they decided to do an avoidance maneuver. There was no contact between the aircraft and the object. The pilots initially thought it was a balloon. After the debriefing, it is very possible that it is a drone ". Two investigators were commissioned to shed light on this incident.

It's still unlikely ...

By checking the FlightRadar24 database, the Monday morning flight between Ottawa and Toronto actually crossed Lake Ontario at 9000 feet, more or less at the indicated time. At this location, and during almost all of its approach, the aircraft was more than 20 kilometers from the nearest shore, north of the lake. Was it possible for a drone to be at 2,750 meters altitude, 20 kilometers from the shore, and at 7:30 in the morning? Yes, it is possible, if one considers a machine pushed within its limits, taking off from a boat, with at its controls an early riser maybe wanting to film the sunrise. But it is still highly unlikely ... There is no doubt that the authorities will not wait for the outcome of the investigation to use this near miss potential as further evidence of the dangerousness of recreational drones.

Additionally, if you need to purchase some rc quads’ s parts, you can search via Banggood website, which is one of the wholesale platform to provide affordable prices, such as walkera batteries, walkera ladybird motors, etc.
