Among the latest small Hubsan, we find this amazing H111D: a tiny device, but able to provide video feedback in real time. On paper, this is awesome. And in practice? Answer in this column. The H111D is the featherweight class, with 18.4 grams only at takeoff. It measures 5.9 cm diagonal engine engine, 5.5 x 5.2 x 2.5 cm (without propellers). Its main structure is the plate housing the electronic components, but only engines arms are visible. The rest is hidden by a plastic shroud of two parts. Indeed, we still see some parts on the rear: there are taken for charging the battery and an on / off switch, as well as circuits bare. The engines are models of 6mm diameter - classical for this device template. They are enclosed in perforated plastic gangue and clipped on engines arms. They move a little when touched.
No apparent son, or rather tiny son ends: they start the engines to reach the engine via arm son of less than one centimeter, welded from both sides. At the front is the lens of a camera, tilted slightly downward. Battery ? This is a 1S 3.7V LiPo 180 mAh non-removable. It is in fact connected to the main board via a web, and under the body. Which is fixed by 4 pins and two screws. In these circumstances, no question of changing battery, it remains in place. It takes 45 minutes for a full charge with the USB cable provided by Hubsan. The outlet has an alignment key that prevents plugging in the wrong direction. No door to insert a microSD memory card: the H111D does not record video on board.
This is a similar model to that of Hubsan H107D, quite large, with a 4 inch (10 cm). It is different from the H107D +, including joysticks remained neutral. Disadvantage ? She is confined to a mode 2 in the case of the one I tested, that is to say, throttle left. In my case, of course, the steering was a bit complicated because I'm used to the mode 1. The radio has a hatch to a microSD card. So on the radio that are recorded shootées videos with the camera aboard the H111D. It takes 4 AA batteries to power the radio. As usual, the first flight is practiced in order to take the measure of the responsiveness of the device. Turn on the radio, the screen shows "Bind to Plane." Turn on H111D and lay it flat. Stationary is easy to master without much work on the controls and with minimal trim. The good news, we suspected a bit since the throttle is not for the neutral is that the H111D lacks the automatic altitude keeping tool. A very nice feature in theory, but in practice H107C + and + H107D proved difficult, because very inefficient. So you manage the flying height, and that's fine. This also allows a much better responsiveness during flights. The steering is soft, a little too much for you? Pressing the joystick opposed to active gas Expert Mode, which gives a little more tone to the device. A little: the H111D does not become a missile, far from it. But this is not the purpose of this machine, as it is scheduled for flights FPV indoors.
